What To Do In Lucerne Switzerland in 1 day

Lucerne

If you are in Switzerland, you can’t miss the colourful Altstadt Lucerne. It is a picture-perfect, beautiful small city with medieval architecture, mountains and lakes. If you are visiting the highest pick of the Swiss Alps, Mount Titlis or Mount Pilatus, then you have to go through Lucerne and you will have a great memorable evening to spend in this city. In this post, we will try to summarize what to do in Lucerne Switzerland in 1 day, in particular, in one evening.

We have visited the city couple of times and still want to go back there. The last time we were at Mount Titlis, we spent the evening (almost 6 hours) in Lucerne. We are going to share that experience in this post. It is only 40 minutes away from my favourite Swiss city Zurich and on the way to Mount Titlis. You can plan to visit Lucerne on the same day as your trip to the high altitude Swiss Alps Glacier, Mount Titlis.

What to do in Lucerne: The Chapel bridge

From the Lucerne Station, it is a very small walk to the famous Chapel bridge walking by the beautiful Lucern lake. You may spend some time sitting by the lake watching beautiful swans. The chapel bridge (Kapellbrücke) is a glorious wooden footbridge on the Reuss river. It is worth spending some time on this bridge, walking by the Reuss river, and taking photos.

Lion Monument and the Swiss Museum

There is another famous place, Lion Monument, only 10 minute walk from the Chapel bridge. While going to that place, you can enjoy the beautiful old city. If time permits, there is one more place to visit, the Swiss museum of transport.

After visiting the Lion monuments, we were very tired and decided to go back to our hotel in Zurich. We found a good Indian restaurant there called ‘Tandoori’ and it was near to the railway station too. The food was tasty and not so expensive. This is the end of another happening day in Switzerland.
