What to do in Brussels
Brussels is the capital of Belgium. We spent one day in Brussels while visiting Bruges on one of our Europe trips. We took a train from Paris to Brussels and reached there at around 4 pm. Amazingly it took only 1.2 hours to travel more than 150 miles by Thalys train. After checking into the hotel, we had 4 hours to enjoy an evening in Brussels, Belgium. We booked our hotel beside the railway station because, after visiting Bruges, our next destination was Frankfurt, Germany. It was easy to catch trains with the luggage we had.
Please remember that children under the age of 12 travel free in Belgium. Also do not forget to collect some freebies for kids from the ticket counter while purchasing your ticket. Just let them know that you have a kid with you.
Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium, it is the de facto capital and administrative headquarter of European Union. If you want to truly visit all the major places of Brussels, you need a couple of days, but due to our tight schedule, we were in Brussels for one day only and in this post we are going to discuss what are the main things you can do in Brussels in one evening.
What to do in an evening in Brussels Belgium – Manneken Pis
Manneken Pis is one of the famous sculptures in Brussels, so we wanted to visit that first. It is not so far from the Brussels central station. We decided to walk while enjoying the beautiful summer afternoon in Brussels’s city centre. But truly speaking, the sculpture disappointed us. It is a 2 feet long bronze statue of a naked little boy urinating in the basin. The area was very crowded and everyone was busy taking photos in front of the little boy.
Although we had the Grand place, Atomium on our list, we did not want to take any risk after visiting this. This is how we spent an evening in Brussels, Belgium. We just roamed around in that area, enjoyed hot chocolate coffee in a nearby restaurant and keep our energy reserved for our next adventure in Bruges.
