Where to go for a one day trip from Glasgow:
Loch Lomond is the largest area of fresh water on the British mainland. Loch Lomond is situated below Ben Lomond, one of the most frequently climbed mountains in Scotland.
We love to go somewhere nearby on a sunny day. Mostly we start in the afternoon, pack our snacks, and tea/coffee from home or buy it from somewhere while going to the destination. While we can enjoy the food there and kids love to play for some time in the evening. It is a good idea to spend 4 to 5 hours in the summer evening outside.
It was a sunny weekend and we wanted to go somewhere nearby and enjoy our evening snacks there. So we packed homemade noodles, drinks for the kids and two cups of coffee and headed towards the largest freshwater lake in the UK.
One day trip from Glasgow: Luss
We wanted to go to Luss, a small picturesque village on the western shore of Loch Lomond. We started around 5 pm from home and it was a 45-minute drive from our home in Glasgow (28 miles). But we thought that Luss would be a bit busy at that time and it would be difficult to get a parking place near the loch, so we took a right turn before 2 miles.
Where to Park
It is a parallel road to the main highway by the loch where you can park on one side of that road. And we found lots of cars on one side of the road and after a few minutes we found suitable parking for our car.
Spending evening time on a one day trip from Glasgow:
The place was incredibly beautiful. On one side, there was a vast green field, and on the other side, there was the stunning Loch Lomond. We found a spot to lay down our outdoor mat and relax. After savouring our food and hot coffee, the kids kept themselves busy playing on the grass. Many people were also enjoying the area, turning it into a bustling picnic spot.
We lost track of time and realized it was getting dark, so we decided to head back home. However, many people were still there, getting ready for a barbecue. Our day trip from Glasgow to Loch Lomond was fantastic, and we had a great time. Get ready to explore one of Scotland‘s most beautiful regions on a sunny afternoon.
